My First Born & The First Element of JAK's: Journey with Ashod

Motherhood hit me at 21, right on the cusp of 22. Not too young, but definitely still figuring out the ropes of life, let alone raising a child. Ashod, my firstborn, entered my world and turned it upside down—in the best way possible. It was just me and him for about six years, navigating the ups and downs, and let me tell you, the struggle was real.

Even after marrying his father and welcoming two more beautiful children into our family, Ashod has always been my ride or die. My little protector. He’s been my rock through thick and thin, and I’m so proud to be his mom.

Our bond is something special. We laugh, we talk about everything under the sun, and though I’m his mother—not trying to be his best friend—it's a blessing to know he feels he can always talk to me without judgment. That's real love right there.

I’m incredibly proud of his journey so far. No, he’s not perfect—what 20-year-old is? But despite the mistakes and the learning curves, my love for him remains unwavering. Watching him grow, stumble, and get back up has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

So here’s to Ashod, my firstborn, my ride or die. The one who made me a mom and taught me so much about love, resilience, and the beauty of the journey. I wouldn’t trade our story for anything.

From the moment Ashod was born, life threw us some unexpected challenges. He was my first child, and he came into this world with eczema. As a young mom, seeing your baby struggle with skin issues is tough. But nothing could prepare us for the big flare-up he had right before the 9th grade. His face broke out so badly that I knew I had to do something—anything—to help him. I couldn’t let my kid enter high school looking like the meat man!

That’s when JAK's Essentials really started to expand. I went into full-on mama bear mode and hit the lab. I was determined to create a skincare solution that would clear up his face and boost his confidence. Inspired by the love I had for my son and the wisdom of my knowledge of natural ingredients, I crafted what is now known as the Mahogany Rose line. This line is a tribute to my grandmother, a woman of strength and beauty, and it represents the heart and soul I put into helping Ashod.

The doctors told us it would take eight weeks with their prescribed creams to see any improvement. But with the products I developed, we saw a transformation in just four weeks. Ashod’s skin was glowing and perfect by the time he started high school. It was like watching a miracle unfold.

Launching Mahogany Rose was more than just a business move; it was personal. It was about a mother’s love and determination to ensure her child felt confident and beautiful in his skin. Seeing Ashod walk into high school with his head held high, knowing he could take on the world, was one of my proudest moments.

What started as a desperate attempt to help my son has grown into a line of products that pay homage to family, love, and resilience. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the toughest challenges can lead to the most rewarding successes.
